When Titleist set out to create the TS series of metalwoods, increasing ball speed was the top priority. The technology in the TS2 and TS3 drivers is already proven to raise ball speeds. Titleist is now offering that same technology to a new demographic with the TS1 driver. The addition of the TS1 driver to the TS family provides golfers with moderate swing speeds a lighter, faster option to help launch the ball higher and carry it farther than their current gamer. Golfers with faster swing speeds will want to look at the TS2, TS3, or TS4 drivers from Titleist.
The Tech Story
In terms of ball speed, the Titleist TS1 driver includes many of the same technologies found in other TS drivers. It features a thinner, faster clubface than any of Titleist’s previous models that is inspected to ensure it offers the maximum allowable speed. Additionally, Titleist included variable face thickness and a lighter crown, both allowing for additional weight to be redistributed to the perimeter for added forgiveness. The TS1 also has Titleist’s trademark SureFit hosel, allowing for 16 unique loft and lie settings to optimize launch and spin. Where the TS1 differs from others in the TS family is in weight. The clubhead is about eight grams lighter than the TS2, TS3, and TS4 clubheads. Additionally, the clubhead is meant to be played with a 40- or 45-gram shaft, allowing golfers with a moderate swing speed to increase clubhead speed and, therefore, ball speed and generate more distance. At address, the TS1 offers a clean, confidence-inspiring look with a deep profile.
