For decades, PING has offered playable and forgiving irons that take performance to the next level. The new PING G425 irons offer all of that and more in 2021 and beyond, helping golfers achieve new levels of accuracy, launch, and distance through unique construction methods. These irons fall into the game-improvement category and are designed to fit a wide range of golfers, specifically those with mid- to high-handicaps, that are searching for improved performance out of their irons. The G425 irons are available in 10 unique color codes, which represent 10 different lie angles to ensure all swing types can play the G425 irons.
The Tech Story
Highlighting the G425 irons is a re-engineering of the clubface compared to past generations. PING has employed a metal-wood-style, variable face thickness (VFT) design clubface into the 17-4 stainless steel body. This design produces significantly more face flexing, which results in ball speed increases and a more powerful launch that helps the ball stop on the greens. While creating the new clubface, PING was also able to make the clubhead more compact to set a new standard for a forgiving game-improvement iron. Despite the smaller size, the G425 irons boast 3 percent higher MOI due to mass savings created by the new face design that have been repositioned to the toe and heel weights. Additionally, a multi-material badge in the cavity was created using extensive finite element analysis to damp unwanted vibrations and ensure a solid, superb feel. Lastly, the G425 irons feature a water-repelling hydropearl chrome finish while the grooves in the wedges are precision-milled to ensure control around the greens.
