2024 Fitter's Choice: Drivers

Every year golfers look forward to the new clubs that are coming out, but are often wondering which club is best for them? That’s where our 2024 Fitter’s Choice comes in! We surveyed more than 50 of our Award Winning Master Fitters, and used their input into which clubs they believe are best in class for this year.

How it Works

Our fitters used their expertise, along with analyzing swings from fittings to help them narrow down their hand-picked selections. Then using that data along with their knowledge, each fitter submitted which clubs they thought were best for each club category (driver, irons, wedges, etc.) by ranking their top performers, and the clubs that consistently ranked the highest among our fitters were the selections for our 2024 Fitter’s Choice.

2024 Fitter's Choice Drivers

Eight different clubs were chosen as the 2024 Fitter’s Choice Driver selections. There’s a variety of brands and driver categories among the eight selections with PING, Titleist, Callaway and TaylorMade each having two selections a piece. Of the eight drivers, half of the selections were High MOI drivers, designed for the widest range of players due to their high launch and maximum forgiveness. There were three Low-Spin options, ideal for golfers that prefer to shape the ball, and one driver that’s in between a High MOI and Low-Spin driver in the TaylorMade Qi10. 

The four High MOI Drivers are: the PING G430 Max 10K, the Titleist TSR2, the TaylorMade Qi10 Max and the Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Max. The Titleist TSR2 is the only selection among the three that wasn’t released in 2024, as it came out in the fall of 2022. Of the four selections, both the PING G430 Max 10K and TaylorMade Qi10 Max feature 10,000 MOI, hence the 10K in the PING, and the 10 in the Qi10. These drivers may lack the distance you’d see in a Low-Spin Driver, but ultimately they are designed for maximum forgiveness, helping players find more fairways, sometimes in exchange for a little less ball speed and therefore distance.

The three Low-Spin drivers are the PING G430 LST, the Titleist TSR3, and the Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond. The TSR3 was released in 2022, the G430 LST in 2023 and the Ai Smoke Triple Diamond in 2024. There’s much more variety in when these clubs were released compared to the High MOI selections. Not only do these drivers provide lower spin, but they also provide more versatility, with each having an adjustable weight to help a player dial in their proper launch and spin.

Then there’s the TaylorMade Qi10. It’s not truly a Low-Spin nor simply a High MOI driver, but rather lies in between the two. It offers mid-to-high launch and mid-to-low spin, which makes it an option for nearly every golfer since it is plenty forgiving, but not nearly as much as the High MOI Drivers, but also has lower spin for some added distance, but not nearly as much as the Low-Spin Drivers.

Each individual golfer is going to have their own personal preferences, but where our 2024 Fitter’s Choice comes in is providing each golfer with some driver options for them to play, or to test in a fitting to see which one is truly best for them.
