Hideki Matsuyama's Winning Bag | 2024 Genesis Invitational
Hideki Matsuyama erased a six-stroke deficit with a 9-under 62 in the final round of the Genesis Invitational, capturing his 9th PGA Tour title. With the win, Matsuyama passed K.J. Choi for the most wins on Tour by an Asian-born player. It also marked his first victory since his win at the Sony Open in January of 2022.
Matsuyama is a Srixon Staffer, with most of his bag composed of Srixon and Cleveland clubs, though there were a few other brands in his lineup this past weekend.

Driver: Srixon ZX5 LS Mk II
At the top of Matsuyama’s bag is his Srixon ZX5 LS Mk II driver, which he plays at 9.5 degrees with a Graphite Design Tour AD DI 8 TX shaft in it. The ZX5 LS Mk II is designed for players with aggressive swing speeds, and those that like to work the ball. For Matsuyama, this wasn’t the top performing club in his bag during his win, but still was a major factor. He finished 16th in Strokes Gained Off the Tee for the tournament, while averaging 300 yards off the tee, good enough for 23rd in total driving distance. He found 31 of 56 fairways, just a shade over a 55 percent hit rate, finishing 23rd in the field in that category. But the biggest factor with his driver, while not the longest nor most accurate this weekend, it set up enough opportunities for him to score with the rest of the bag.
Fairway Woods: TaylorMade Qi10 (3-Wood), COBRA RadSpeed Tour (5-Wood)
Matsuyama ventures away from Srixon/Cleveland for both of his fairway woods, playing a brand new TaylorMade Qi10 for his 3-wood, and a three-year old Cobra RadSpeed Tour for his 5-Wood, Much like his driver, the RadSpeed Tour 5-Wood was designed for golfers with a high swing speeds, while offering low spin and control in a compact profile. The Qi10 3-Wood provides a bit higher MOI compared to his 5-Wood, giving him some flexibility on the type of shot he wants with his fairway woods.
Irons: Srixon Z-Forged II (4-9)
Moving to his irons where Matsuyama returns to Srixon, gaming the Srixon Z-Forged II irons. His iron play was sensational solid throughout the tournament, finishing in 18th in Strokes Gained Approach to Green, but he took it to an entirely different level in Sunday’s final round where he finished 2nd in Strokes Gained Approach to Green for the round. No where did his iron play shine brighter than down the final stretch, specifically the par 3 14th and par 4 15th holes, where his approach shots landed a total of 14 inches from the cup combined!
Wedges: Cleveland RTX 4 Forged Prototype (52, 56, 60 Degrees)
While his iron play was sensational during Sunday’s final round, Matsuyama’s wedge play was incredible all tournament long, finishing 3rd in Strokes Gained Around the Green, and leading the field in scrambling. Matsuyama plays Cleveland RTX 4 Forged wedges, and they were magnificent. He converted 20 of his 24 scrambling opportunities throughout the tournament, including all 4 in Sunday’s incredible final round. His wedges also played a key part in his Strokes Gained Approach to Green finish, and in his 5th place finish in Greens In Regulation, giving him a birdie look or better on nearly 67 percent of the holes.
Putter: Scotty Cameron Prototype
Matsuyama stays with his trusty Scotty Cameron Prototype Putter for his flatstick, and it served him well. He finished 3rd for the tournament in Strokes Gained Putting, while tying for 3rd in Total Putts, and tying for 6th in Putts per Green in Regulation. In Sunday’s final round, not surprisingly, he led the field in Strokes Gained Putting, tied for 1st in total putts with just 23, and tied for 4th in Putts per GIR, averaging 1.43 putts every time he found the green in regulation. All of that combined helped Matsuyama to his 9th PGA Tour Title, and with wins now at Augusta, The Memorial and now Riviera, he’s got wins at some of golf’s biggest events and best courses.
