Hideki Matsuyama set the PGA Tour record for low 72-hole score by shooting a 35-under en route to a win at the Sentry. Matsuyama outlasted Collin Morikawa in a shootout at The Plantation Course in Kapalua, Hawaii to kick start his 2025 season with a victory.

Matsuyama is a Srixon staffer, but plays a nice variety of clubs throughout his bag with 5 different brands within his winning bag.

Driver: Srixon ZX5 LS Mk II

Shaft: Graphite Design Tour AD DI 8 TX

Matsuyama keeps his bag identical as a year ago with the top of his bag featuring his Srixon ZX5 LS Mk II driver with a Graphite Design Tour AD DI 8 TX shaft in it. When you shoot 35-under, it isn't just one part of your bag doing the heavy lifting, but every piece of it. His driver was great as Hideki ranked 21st in average driving distance and tied for 7th in driving accuracy. Overall he finished 16th in Strokes Gained Off the Tee, which was actually his lowest performing metric for the tournament as crazy as that sounds with those numbers.

Fairway Woods: TaylorMade Qi10 (3-Wood), COBRA RadSpeed Tour (5-Wood)

Shafts: Graphite Design Tour AD DI 9 TX (3-Wood), Graphite Design Tour AD DI 10 TX (5-Wood)

For his fairway woods, Matsuyama plays two different brands, TaylorMade and Cobra. He goes with a current generation TaylorMade Qi10 for his 3-Wood and plays it at 15 degrees, while he goes back to 2021 for his 5-wood, playing a Cobra RadSpeed Tour, though has it adjusted to 19 degrees. He goes with the core model for his 3-wood, which still has high MOI, but not to the degree of the Qi10 Max, but then for his 5-wood, goes with a lower-spinning model that gives him some more shot flexibility.

Irons: Srixon Z-Forged II (4-9)

Shafts: True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400

Moving to his irons, where Matsuyama games the Srixon Z-Forged II irons. These forged muscle backs are designed for precision, and they lived up to that billing at The Sentry. Hideki hit 63 of 72 greens in regulation whichhhas tied for the 4th best performance. He didn't just hit a ton of greens, but also hit his approach shots close, as he finished 2nd in Strokes Gained Approach to Green, gaining 9.158 strokes on the field. His approach game helped him tied for 2nd in the field in eagles made with 2, and he led the field in birdies with 33 over the course of 72 holes.

Wedges: Cleveland RTX 4 Forged Prototype (52, 56, 60 Degrees)

Shafts: True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400

Matsuyama goes back a couple models for his wedges, playing the Cleveland RTX 4 Forged Prototypes for all three of his wedges. His wedges played a key part in his approach game performance, but they were just as good around the green. Hideki converted 8 of his 9  scramble opportunities which was the 3rd best performance in the field, helping him limit himself to just 2 bogeys for the tournament, which was tied for the 2nd fewest among all players. Overall, Hideki ranked 12th in Strokes Gained Around the Green, gaining 1.377 strokes on the field overal

Hideki Matsuyama's only change from his 2024 bag comes in the flatstick, where he switched into a Scotty Cameron center-shafted 009M Tour Prototype. It was his first tournament using this putter and we think it'll be staying around a while after his performance on the greens. Matsuyama holed 98 feet of putts, which was 2nd best overall, and his 1.56 putts per gir was also the 2nd best performance of the week. Overall, Hideki gained 5.317 strokes on the field on the putting surface, which ranked 3rd overall.
