Jason Day's 2015 RBC Canadian Open Winning Bag
When Jason Day looks back on his golf career, the run he had in 2015 will be one that brings a smile to face. Day won five tournaments that year, including his first and only major, the 2015 PGA Championship at Whistling Straits, and he rose to World No. 1 in the OWGR following his win at the BMW Championship in September.
One of Day’s five victories that year was the RBC Canadian Open, where Day made birdie on each of the last three holes to propel him to a one-stroke victory over Bubba Watson. With the RBC Canadian Open teeing off this week, we thought we’d take a look back at the clubs Day was playing with en route to victory.

Driver: TaylorMade R15 460 (10.5 degrees)
Shaft: Mitsubishi Kuro Kage Silver TiNi 70 X (tipped 1 inch)
The TaylorMade R15 driver is designed for golfers who want full adjustability and control over the performance of their clubs. Using the low, forward Center of Gravity (CG) introduced in the SLDR line, along with the sliding weight track that adds Speed Pocket-like functionality, the R15 is a low-spin driver, with a bigger sweet spot. The standard R15 has a 460cc head, available in white or black, that has two 12.5 gram sliding weights in the sole. By using two weights in the track players can set the driver to maximum draw/fade bias (both weights in the heel/toe), maximum forgiveness with one weight at each end to increase the club's Moment of Inertia, or maximum distance with both weights in the center. The track these weights slide on is closer to the face compared to the SLDR, moving the CG more forward and lower to reduce spin and raise launch angles for distance-promoting ball flight. The R15 offers even more adjustability with a 4º loft sleeve in addition to the 25 grams of adjustable weight in the sole. The R15 offers TaylorMade metalwood technology in a fully adjustable club to give you optimal launch, spin and speed for longer drives.
3-wood: TaylorMade AeroBurner 3HL (16.5 degrees @14.5)
Shaft: Mitsubishi Kuro Kage Silver TiNi 80 X
The TaylorMade AeroBurner fairway wood couples aerodynamic shaping with a redesigned SpeedPocket to give golfers faster clubhead and ball speed for more distance. The AeroBurner fairway woods have a drag-reducing shape to help you get more clubhead speed without swinging harder. This reduction in drag is due to a re-designed crown and hosel fin that promotes better airflow around the head. in order to get the most out of that increased clubhead speed, TaylorMade put in a new SpeedPocket in the sole that reduces spin as well as increases ball speeds across a greater portion of the high-strength Ni-Co 300 face.
