Unique, but not lacking performance: Mizuno's new ST-G Driver and Fairway Woods
October 05, 2023
The Mizuno ST-G Driver and Fairway woods may be unique, but they aren’t lacking performance. Both feature a smaller clubhead than the other 2023 Mizuno models, making them a lower spinning option for players with faster swing speeds, and those golfers looking to shape the ball.
The ST-G driver features a 440cc clubhead, smaller than the 460cc head on both the ST-Z and ST-X 230 models. That smaller clubhead combined with a deep face allows the ST-G to greatly reduce spin, and therefore provides an opportunity for greater distance.
Further aiding in the distance category is a new clubface, made from Forged Beta Rich Ti-LFS, making it lighter, faster and stronger. Add that to a CORTECH multi-thickness design, and the ST-G clubface optimizes ball speeds while also adding forgiveness.
The ST-G fairway woods feature an 80-gram stainless steel plate on the sole to dramatically reduce spin and lower the center of gravity to generate a higher launch. Like the ST-G driver, the ST-G fairway woods feature the CORTECH multi-thickness design in the clubface to add some forgiveness and increase ball speed.
Both the ST-G driver and fairway woods provide players with maximum versatility with a Quick Switch hosel that provides golfers with 4 degrees of loft adjustability.
In addition to the Quick Switch hosel, the ST-G Driver features a Fast Track allowing for maximum versatility when it comes to adjusting for optimal launch and spin. It also features an expanded crown, which provides golfers with neutral, draw and fade biases.
