Titleist TSR1 Metals Deliver Easy Distance and Launch
Titleist TSR1 Metals Deliver Easy Distance and Launch

The new Titleist TSR metalwood family has been an enormous win in the 2nd Swing fitting bays already. Now, Titleist has added to the TSR family with the release of the TSR1 metals, which include the TSR1 driver, TSR1 fairway wood, and TSR1 hybrid.
These clubs have been specifically engineered for players with moderate swing speeds, which is roughly 90 miles per hour or lower with the driver. According to Titleist, roughly a third of all golfers worldwide fall into this category, so the TSR1 performance is beneficial for a huge range of players.
“The TSR1 line represents a continued commitment to deliver speed to every style of player,” said Stephanie Luttrell, Titleist Director of Metalwood Development. “With the TSR1 driver, we found more speed and launch for the player through a lightweight design, better aerodynamics and our deepest CG ever in a Titleist driver.”
The Titleist TSR1 driver offers many of the same technologies as the TSR2 model, including Multi-Plateau Variable Face Thickness that delivers ball speed retention all over the face. However, the TSR1 driver is an ultra-lightweight build in comparison thanks to a lighter head weight, 40-gram shaft, and a lightweight grip. Reducing weight with these components and a new aerodynamic shape help golfers swing the TSR1 faster through the air and create more potential distance.
Meanwhile, the Titleist TSR1 fairway wood is the highest launching Titleist fairway wood and designed specifically for those tricky shots off awkward lies. At 180cc, the TSR1 fairway includes a larger footprint than the TSR2, but at 20 grams lighter and with a deeper center of gravity placement to provide easier launch.
“In designing TSR1 fairways, high launch was the top priority,” said Josh Talge, Vice President, Titleist Golf Club Marketing. “We wanted to make the highest launching and most forgiving fairway we could. The result makes for a seamless transition from the TSR1 driver through the top end of the bag.”
Titleist delivered the goods with the TSR1 hybrid as well. The hybrid can be the most important club (or clubs) in the bag for many golfers in the moderate swing speed category, so Titleist made sure to achieve more speed and higher MOI. A larger “wood-type” clubhead allows for a deeper center of gravity. Despite a larger clubhead volume, the TSR1 hybrid’s swingweight is not increased compared to the TSi1. Plus, the TSR1 hybrid shafts utilize a .335 fairway tip and are a half inch longer than prior models for increased spin and launch.
“Keeping with the increased demand for higher lofted fairways from players, TSR1 hybrids are the most ‘wood-like’ hybrids we have ever made,” said Talge. “With a larger profile and a slightly longer shaft, TSR1 hybrids promote the speed and launch golfers may want from a fairway but with the added gapping flexibility to fit into the rest of the bag.”
The TSR1 metalwood family will help any moderate swing speed golfer play better golf and ultimately shoot lower scores. Schedule your fitting today or shop at 2ndswing.com.
