Cobra KING F9 Speedback Driver
Who’s It For
Cobra has had great success with its recent driver releases by utilizing low CG positions to reduce spin and increase distance. With its new KING F9 Speedback driver, Cobra has incorporated a new aerodynamic shape along with a low center of gravity to create what it believes is the fastest, longest Cobra driver ever. Also new with F9 is that there is no longer a standard and a plus model, as was the case with F6, F7, and F8, which means that the F9 with the right shaft and loft setting will be a great fit for players of all ability levels.
The Tech Story
As its name would suggest, the performance created by the Cobra F9 Speedback driver is driven by Speedback Technology, which combines aerodynamic shaping and a low, deep CG position. More specifically in terms of the shape, the F9 features softer leading edges, a more rounded crown, and a raised skirt at the back of the crown, all of which help reduce air drag and maximize clubhead speed, as do polymer crown trips and titanium sole trips. Engineers have also used a carbon crown in which the carbon fiber wraps over portions of the body, with the result being weight savings that allow for the CG to be optimally positioned. As was first introduced in the F8 drivers, the F9 clubface has been CNC milled, which ensures precision and the thinnest, hottest face that Cobra can produce. Additionally, the clubface features precise bulge and roll curvatures that help contribute to more accurate results on mis-hits. The F9 Speedback also features two weight ports in the sole and interchangeable weights of two and 14 grams that allow players to produce the launch conditions and spin rates that they’re looking for, and the MyFly8 adjustable hosel offers eight settings to adjust loft and lie to further dial in a golfer’s preferred trajectory and shot shape. And finally, F9 drivers will feature COBRA CONNECT technology, which allows players to pair their driver with their smartphone through a sensor that’s embedded in the butt end of the grip to track stats, identify shot tendencies, and recognize weaknesses.
