GBB Epic is so-named because it represents an epic shift in how the head and face behave to enhance power, spearheaded by our innovative Jailbreak Technology and Exo-Cage/triaxial carbon construction. Any golfer, from scratch players to high handicappers, should find more speed, distance and control with GBB Epic. Our patent-pending Jailbreak Technology profoundly changes how the head behaves to increase ball speed and distance. At impact, a driver’s crown, sole and face each bend, flex and rebound. Jailbreak positions two ultra-light (3g), ultra-strong titanium bars behind the face, connected to the crown and sole. Jailbreak bars reduce crown and sole deflection, allowing the face to take on more impact-load to focus more energy – physicists call this “energy lensing” -- across more of the face to promote longer average distance from swing to swing. Epic’s clubhead consists of our new aerospace-grade titanium Exo-Cage outfitted with crown and sole panels made of triaxial carbon, an extraordinarily light and strong composite material developed by Callaway. Nearly half of the head’s surface – 46% -- consists of triaxial carbon, with the crown weighing just 9.7g and the sole just 5.8g. That’s the lightest crown ever in a Callaway driver. Epic’s incredibly light and strong multi-material construction allows extremely high MOI and a low CG that makes it easy to launch the ball on a strong, low-spinning flight. Epic promotes shot-shape control with Callaway’s Adjustable Perimeter Weighting technology, which allows you to easily adjust the club to fit their swing. The redesigned track and heavier sliding weight (17 grams) deliver a full 21 yards of shot-shape correction (a 22% increase over Great Big Bertha) to dial in straighter flight while maintaining exceptionally high MOI. Head speed gets a boost from Callaway’s proven Speed Step technology. Designed with the help of aerospace experts, the Speed Step, located on the crown, improves head aerodynamics for more speed and distance without swinging harder. Callaway engineers paid particular attention to the shape, aesthetics and acoustics to make Epic pleasing to the eye and to the ear. The Tour-inspired shape is sleek, aerodynamic and confidence-inspiring. The triaxial carbon weave visible on the rear half of the crown, along with the vibrant green highlights, give Epic a uniquely satisfying appearance. Four premium, Tour-proven stock-shafts are available, each engineered to promote a formidable combination of speed, power, stability, feel and control.
