In recent years, Mizuno has invested heavily in their metal woods. Not content with just churning out excellent iron sets, the company’s latest ST series is a bold set of offerings that will change the way golfers view Mizuno woods. The Mizuno ST-X Driver sets up with a high draw bias, which reduces the severity of the miss out to the right and makes it easier to hit the elusive tight draw. This driver is preferred among Mizuno’s professional golfers relative to the ST-Z, and its compact head shape and technological characteristics make it ideal for mid-handicappers and below.
The Tech Story
The Mizuno ST-X Driver features a brand new, Forged SAT2041 Beta Ti face. This highly resilient metal has been used in the past in the automotive industry and to create complex cycle parts. Its fine grain structure is inherently resistant to fatigue, and it is forged to withstand strong forces for years. The ST-X also boasts 4 degrees of loft adjustability, allowing golfers to alter the look and performance of the club at will. The Wave Sole Plate featured on previous Mizuno drivers has been optimized to deliver increased ball speed numbers. One significant aspect unique to the Mizuno ST-X is its X-Axis design, which creates a draw flight bias due to its toe-located carbon composite window and its heel-located sole weight. Appearance-wise, the ST-X’s profile is compact with a more upright visual lie angle.
