The Mizuno ST 220 driver series showcases Mizuno’s advancement in the driver category, especially over the last few years. With the use of unique materials and modern adjustability options, Mizuno drivers have delivered some of the best performance in the golf industry. The ST 220 series, featuring the ST-X 220 and the ST-Z 220, include a new stainless steel weight placed precisely in the clubhead to optimize performance. Of the two models, the ST-Z will fit the most golfers, promoting a neutral trajectory and high launch.
The Tech Story
Mizuno’s drivers have taken a giant step forward in the past couple of years with its new Forged SAT2041 Beta Titanium clubface material, which is 17 percent stronger than commercial 6-4 Titanium that is commonly used in drivers. The SAT (Super Alloy Titanium) is made of 20% Vanadium, 4% Aluminum, and 1% Sn. The result is enhanced COR to CT performance. The clubface also features multi-thickness CORTECH technology, which has been refined to maximize the return from Mizuno’s Beta titanium face, specifically low on the face. New in the ST 220 drivers is an Optimally Placed 20-gram stainless steel weight. In the ST-Z 220, it is placed below the sole surface in the rear center of the head, providing a huge MOI boost. The ST-Z 220 also features a modern players profile at 460cc, with the shape pushed slightly lower to the ground for easier launch and low-to-mid spin. To optimize sound, Mizuno has implemented its HIT tuned Impact Sound technology, which is made of internal ribs that fine tune the sound to an appropriate frequency. And lastly, the adjustable hosel provides 4 degrees of loft to help golfers tune launch and spin.
