PING has always delivered an excellent combination of distance, forgiveness, and consistency off the tee with its drivers. The new PING G425 drivers, introduced in 2021, are no different. PING has combined innovations of the past with new features to take MOI to heights never seen before. Of the three models, the G425 LST is the lowest-spinning and lowest-launching and is best suited for players with high swing speeds or players that generate a lot of spin. The G425 Max will fit the widest range of players, while the G425 SFT is designed to fight a slice and provides extra forgiveness as well.
The Tech Story
Improvements to DragonFly Technology in the G425 LST driver have created more weight savings that have been positioned at distinctive settings over a smaller area than G410 drivers to help bring the center of gravity lower and farther back without sacrificing performance. The G425 LST, like the G425 Max, includes a CG-shifting weight at the back of the clubhead that can be positioned into a neutral, draw, or fade setting. However, the tungsten weight in the G425 LST is 17 grams vs. the 26-gram weight in the G425 Max. Additionally, the G425 LST is a smaller, more compact clubhead shape at 445cc. Overall, the G425 LST generates about 200 RPM fewer than the G410 LST and about 500-700 RPM fewer than the G425 Max. The G425 LST also features T9S+ forged clubface that flexes at impact and an internal rib structure inside the Ti-8-1-1 body that delivers a pleasing sound. And of course, the G425 LST driver also includes PING’s trademark turbulators on the crown that increase clubhead speed through aerodynamics. Last but not last, PING’s 8-lobe Trajectory Tuning 2.0 Adjustable Hosel allows golfers to adjust loft and lie to fit their preferred launch and spin characteristics.
