TaylorMade M6 Driver
Who’s It For?
The M3 and M4 drivers from TaylorMade introduced a groundbreaking innovation called Twist Face, which corrected the off-center miss through changes to the shape of the clubface. TaylorMade enhanced Twist Face in its series of M5 and M6 drivers with Speed Injected Twist Face technology, which injects resin into the clubhead for maximum ball speed. Specifically, the M6 also includes the Inertia Generator that provides excellent forgiveness. The M6 driver is a superb option for golfers of all swing speeds searching more distance and forgiveness off the tee. Golfers in search of a more customizable option may prefer the M5 driver, while those in search of a lower-spinning option may want to try the M5 Tour driver. Additionally, players who struggle with an unwanted fade or block trajectory may like the draw bias in the M6 D-Type driver.
The Tech Story
With Speed Injected Twist Face technology, TaylorMade ensures every one of its M5 and M6 drivers reaches the speed limit set by the USGA and the R&A. This is achieved through a unique process in which the driver faces are designed to exceed the speed limit before a tuning process makes adjustments for conformity and injects resin in the clubhead for maximum ball speed. The resin-injection process uses two ports, located on the bottom corners of the clubface, and a proprietary algorithm to deliver the exact amount of resin required to optimize speed. TaylorMade’s popular Twist Face technology is also included in the M6, designed to increase forgiveness thanks to a unique clubface shape. The toe is slightly opened to correct the toe-hook miss, while the heel is slightly closed to correct the heel-fade miss. The Hammerhead 2.0 slot, located on the sole near the clubface, combines with Speed Injected Twist Face to produce a larger sweet spot and preserve ball speed on off-center strikes. Present in the M6 that is not found in the M5 or the M5 Tour drivers is the aerodynamic carbon sole design with the Inertia Generator. The sleek, aerodynamic shaping increases clubhead speed on the downswing for more distance. Roughly 54 percent more carbon is included in the M6 than the M4, which allows 46 grams of weight is stored low and back in the clubhead for increased forgiveness. The M6 also includes an adjustable loft sleeve on the hosel that can provide customizable lie angle and loft options to fit each golfer’s preferences.
