Callaway Big Bertha Fairway Wood
The Callaway Big Bertha metal woods were the start of a now iconic line of golf clubs. The idea: make the most forgiving fairway wood possible while maximizing distance at the same time. Named after an artillery cannon used in WWI designers hoped to create a club that shot golf balls off the face for better distance. The hosel design allowed weight to be concentrated lower in the club and that increases launch angles.
