Cobra KING F9 Speedback Tour Fairway Wood
Who’s It For
Cobra’s new KING F9 Speedback fairway woods were created to give golfers everything they want when it comes to fairway wood performance, including impressive ball speeds and forgiveness, as well as a clubhead design that launches the ball in the air with ease from the turf. F9 fairways also feature significant customization options to help players fine tune their preferred flight conditions. As it relates specifically to the F9 Speedback Tour fairways, they will provide players with a more compact shape and a lower-spinning profile that will allow players to more easily create a flatter trajectory when they want it. For those, however, who want higher launch first and foremost from their fairway woods, the standard F9 would likely be the better choice..
The Tech Story
From a technology standpoint, the Cobra F9 Speedback Tour fairway woods feature many of the same innovations that have been utilized in the F9 driver. Included in that list is a lightweight carbon crown that allows for a low, deep CG position that helps promote faster ball speeds and improved stability at impact. That said, while the standard F9 fairway woods feature fixed weight in a weight port in the back of the sole, the F9 Tour fairways have a fixed weight in a port that’s positioned closer to the clubface to promote lower spin, a flatter trajectory, and more workability. The F9 Tour also features a more compact footprint than the standard F9. New to both F9 fairway models is a face insert that has been CNC milled from 455 stainless steel, which enables a thinner clubface and more ball speed from all strike locations. Additionally, polymer crown trips and steel sole trips reduce air drag during the swing to help players maximize clubhead speed. The F9 Speedback fairway woods also feature redesigned Baffler rails to provide exceptional turf interaction and improved performance on mis-hits, and Cobra’s MyFly8 adjustable hosel provides golfers with eight unique settings to help them create their preferred trajectory and shot shape. F9 fairways also come standard with COBRA CONNECT technology, which allows players to pair their fairway wood(s) with their smartphone through a sensor that’s embedded in the butt end of the grip to track stats and identify shot tendencies.
