PING’s reputation as a manufacturer of excellent drivers has spread to its production of fairway woods. The G410 fairway wood includes an updated CG location for enhanced ball speed and forgiveness. This club is terrific for golfers looking for more distance and easier launch across the entire hitting area. However, as is the case with PING’s G410 driver series, golfers who struggle with unwanted fade or block trajectories may want to look at the G410 SFT fairway wood. Moreover, golfers who seek lower launch and reduced spin with a fairway wood should check out the G410 LST fairway.
The Tech Story
The key alteration made to the G410 that was not present in past PING fairway wood models is the movement of the CG location to align with the force line. The CG has been positioned closer to the face and sole (.060” lower than the G400 fairway wood) to amplify stability, maximize ball speed and increase forgiveness. PING also inserted a high-density tungsten back weight with a thinner crown that allows for more weight to be positioned deeper in the clubhead and closer to the perimeter to increase the MOI. Maraging steel, one of the strongest and most flexible alloys in the world, is an ideal material to use for the clubface and provide. The maraging steel is forged and machined to a three-tier thickness to produce more flexing and a thinner face for higher ball speeds and more distance. Additionally, the 8-lobe Trajectory Tuning system found in other PING G410 products is also included with the G410 fairway wood. It’s a lightweight, aerodynamic hosel sleeve that provides eight positions for golfers to customize their trajectory through loft and lie adjustments.
