Golfers who choose to put any of the G410 series woods in their bags will see an immediate increase in forgiveness and launch at impact. PING engineers also implemented technologies into this club, such as additional heel-wide weighting, that will provide fade correction for golfers struggling with undesired fade or block trajectories (left-to-right ball flight for right-handed golfers). For golfers who prefer more club customization or a further emphasis on a low, straight trajectory, the G410 standard fairway wood or the G410 LST fairway wood, respectively, might be better options.
The Tech Story
The technological innovations that were instituted in the G410 SFT fairway wood can be seen throughout the G410 series. Popular in the series and featured on the G410 SFT is the clubhead’s matte black finish that offers a powerful, sleek appearance at address. Meanwhile, PING’s trademark turbulators are placed on the crown of the clubhead to reduce drag by 40 percent on the downswing and 15 percent overall. More heel-side weighting has been added to the G410 SFT than was included in the G400 SFT to promote a right-to-left shot shape for right-handed golfers (or left-to-right shot shape for left-handed golfers), similar to the G410 SFT driver. PING also made sure to emphasize added forgiveness and launch in the G410 SFT fairway woods with a combination of slightly larger clubheads and weaker lofts. The 188cc 3-wood is nearly 10 percent larger than the standard G410 3-wood, but also has 16 degrees of loft compared to the standard G410 3-wood’s 14.5 degrees. This allows for more perimeter weighting to drive the MOI higher and increase launch. These innovations offer golfers the opportunity to maintain a consistent high launch angle while using the G410 SFT’s heel-side weighting to find desired draw trajectories and get rid of the unwanted fade or block.
