The Callaway Epic Flash series has been such a resounding success that Callaway decided to expand the series to include hybrids. The groundbreaking innovations found in the Epic Flash drivers and fairway woods, such as Flash Face driven by Artificial Intelligence, are all included in these hybrids. The result is a hybrid made with premium materials and technology designed to launch the ball high in the air while maintaining low spin for golfers of all skill levels. Golfers searching for a lower flight or more workability may want to check out the Callaway Apex 19 hybrid, while golfers in search of extreme forgiveness may like the Callaway 2019 Big Bertha hybrid.
The Tech Story
The calling card of the Epic Flash series is Callaway’s Flash Face technology, which was designed through the use of Artificial Intelligence to maximize ball speeds. The inside of the clubface contains a series of ripples flowing from heel to toe that add speed on contact made all over the clubface. Callaway’s Jailbreak technology is also featured in the Epic Flash hybrids. Jailbreak incorporates two internal bars that connect the sole and the crown, stabilizing the clubhead and placing more impact load on the face to promote faster ball speeds. For the first time in a hybrid, Callaway has implemented its T2C Triaxial Carbon Crown in a hybrid, generating added saved weight compared to a traditional steel crown. That saved weight is redistributed throughout the clubhead to lower the center of gravity and increase both launch and MOI. That center of gravity is further optimized by precisely-shaped MIM’ed tungsten weighting, both internal and external. Callaway also implemented a new, lighter OptiFit 3 hosel, allowing golfers to easily dial in their optimal ball flight through loft and lie adjustments.
