Callaway Apex Pro Smoke 19 Iron Set
Who’s It For?
Callaway targeted experienced golfers when engineering its latest series of Apex 19 irons. Each set offers terrific workability and precision that rivals other forged sets available on the market. The Apex Pro Smoke 19 irons also offers ball speed and distance rarely achieved by other products in the players iron category. This set is a great option for low-handicap players in search of excellent distance from their irons without sacrificing premium workability. Skilled golfers who like the smoke finish but would like more emphasis on launch, distance, and forgiveness should look at the Apex Smoke 19 irons or the Apex 19 irons. Players who prefer a chrome finish over a grey smoke finish will find all of the same technology in the Apex Pro 19 irons. Mid- to high-handicap golfers are probably better suited for the forgiveness and easy launch attributes of the 2019 Big Bertha irons.
The Tech Story
In order to engineer the Apex Pro Smoke 19 irons, Callaway received extensive feedback from some of the world’s best players to incorporate details preferred by Tour professionals into the irons. The Apex Pro Smoke 19 irons contain a straighter leading edge, higher toe, thinner top line and a smoother hosel transition than the Apex Smoke 19 irons for increased turf interaction, precision, and workability desired by the best players in the world. The Apex Pro Smoke 19 irons also boast the explosive distance and superb feel of the Apex Smoke 19 irons. The distance comes from Callaway’s 360 Face Cup technology, which promotes face flexing and, therefore, ball speed across all areas of the clubface for better performance on center and off-center strikes. The short irons also include a spin control VFT face for added shot-making in the scoring clubs. The forged 1025 mild carbon steel body and urethane microspheres combine to generate an extremely soft feel for the first time in a Callaway forged iron set. The urethane microspheres incorporate over one million tiny air pockets that absorb unwanted vibration without slowing the face. For ideal control and workability, Callaway has injected an average of 50 grams of tungsten weighting into each iron to precisely position the CG location for pinpoint control. Present in the Apex Pro Smoke 19 irons is also a brand new stunning gray smoke PVD finish, with a new Apex Smoke Medallion, for a distinct, premium visual design.
