Who’s It For
Cobra’s KING Forged Tec Black irons were created to fit a wide array of golfers, ranging from low single-digit handicappers to those who are in the mid-teens. More specifically, the Forged Tec Black irons feature a tour-inspired shape that promotes control and workability, and they were designed to offer the impact feel and sound that better players want. That said, they also will provide players with distance gains and higher launch conditions when compared to what most pro-style irons can offer, as well as ample forgiveness on off-center strikes.
The Tech Story
While the KING Forged Tec Black irons feature a classic, unassuming shape, there is plenty going on under the hood from a technology standpoint. Cobra has utilized forged 4140 Chromoly steel to construct the clubface. As a material, Chromoly is lightweight but extremely strong, which enables a thinner clubface that delivers improved ball speeds from across the face. Engineers have also utilized tungsten weighting in the heel and toe to lower the center of gravity, which provides high launch conditions and enhanced stability at impact. Also unique is a carbon fiber medallion that has been positioned behind the optimal impact area in the cavity, a design feature that helps dampen unwanted vibrations at impact and works in unison with the forged construction of these irons to offer exceptional feel. It should also be noted that the dimonized black metal finish that has been chosen for the King Forged Tec Black irons is incredibly durable, so players won’t have to worry about the finish wearing too quickly. And finally, as is the case with all of Cobra’s 2018 products, the Forged Tec Black irons will include COBRA CONNECT technology at no charge. Powered by Arccos Golf, electronic sensors are embedded in the butt end of the grip that allow golfers to use their smartphones to track and archive stats during every round, which can be incredibly valuable in terms of identifying strengths and weaknesses.
