The Mizuno JPX-850 Forged irons are the result of 6 years of planning and provide players that want the feel of forged irons with better distance. The key to overcoming the typical limitations of forged irons is a stronger steel used in the forging process. By adding Boron, the JPX-850 Forged irons have a thinner, forged face than previous models released my Mizuno. The new steel is 30% stronger than 1025E steel and results in increased distance without ridiculously strong lofts or lengthened shafts. The thin face is supported by the Power Frame, giving the face a higher coefficient of restitution (COR), which means there is a greater rebounding of the face at impact. This means more ball speed and greater distance, all from a Mizuno forged iron. The Power Frame design also allows weight to be moved to the perimeter of the club for better forgiveness, especially in the mid-to long-irons.
