The Ping Karsten irons are distance-minded game improvement irons to be sure. The clubs are set up to maximize distance with a thin face as well as control with better stopping power from higher ball flights. The full set includes heel-toe weighted hybrids in addition to the irons to cover more shots with proper gapping. The irons have a wider sole that moves the Center of Gravity lower to increase initial launch while giving the clubs a higher Moment of Inertia. This higher MOI reduces the twisting of the clubface when the ball isn't hit perfectly so even misses end up on target.
