Who’s It For?

TaylorMade’s P700 iron series has been highly successful over the past few years, and TaylorMade has decided to add more options to fit more golfers. New in 2020 is the P770 iron model, which has been designed to fit the eye of a more discerning player. In terms of performance, the P770 is similar to the P790 providing players with low-to-mid handicaps with a hollow-body clubhead that delivers a solid combination of workability and forgiveness. More specifically, TaylorMade designed the P770s after gathering feedback from golfers playing the P790s that noted a desire for a more compact head shape.

The Tech Story

The P770 irons feature a compact players shape with a thin topline, little offset, and a shorter blade length that will create a smaller appearance when compared to the P790. With that said, the construction and materials used are nearly the same. The P770 irons are a forged hollow-body construction with a thin, wrap-around forged 4140 steel face and a soft carbon steel body to go with up to 46 grams of tungsten weighting. This combination creates explosive distance and reliable forgiveness. Meanwhile, SpeedFoam technology is also present in the P770 irons, which consists of an ultra-light urethane foam injected inside the head to push the design limits of speed while improving feel. TaylorMade’s Thru Slot Speed Pocket is also included and visible on the sole to maximize ball speeds and add forgiveness. And lastly, Progressive Inverted Cone Technology is strategically located in each clubhead to improve accuracy and performance on off-center hits.
