TaylorMade has pushed the envelope when it comes to producing excellent, soft, forged feel in a game-improvement iron over the past few generations. The new SIM2 Max irons and SIM2 Max OS irons both boast an extremely soft feel for the game-improvement category through the use of unique materials in the construction. Of course, distance and forgiveness are also aplenty with these iron sets. Of the two iron models in the SIM2 family, the SIM2 Max OS irons offer an oversize shape with stronger lofts to help those with more moderate swing speeds increase launch and distance.

The Tech Story

The performance in each SIM2 iron model is derived from the same technology. The all-new multimaterial Cap Back Design features high-strength stainless steel and ultralight polymers that combine to deliver a low center of gravity and soft feel. Each SIM2 iron model also has a faster and more forgiving face than the previous SIM irons, including a 40% larger sweet spot. The ECHO Damping System returns to remove unwanted vibrations through a softer polymer blend that generates a forged iron feel. Meanwhile, the Thru-Slot Speed Pocket visible on the sole is TaylorMade’s trademark technology to optimize face flexibility and is especially useful when the ball is struck low on the clubface. Additionally, both models feature Progressive Inverted Cone Technology, which is uniquely designed in each club in the set to optimize forgiveness and minimize sidespin. The SIM2 Max OS irons are more of a super game-improvement iron with strong lofts and an oversize shape for maximum forgiveness and distance.
