TaylorMade Spider EX Platinum Flow Neck Putter
Who’s It For?
In recent years, the popularity of mallet putters has risen dramatically. While the traditional blade shape will always find favor among traditionalists, the mallet’s relatively larger head shape allows for more technological innovation.TaylorMade’s engineers took advantage of this fact during the design process of the new Spider EX Flow Neck Putter. With 20 degrees of toe hang, this flat stick is ideal for the golfer with a mild-to-moderate arc in his or her putting stroke. This putter is also targeted towards those seeking maximum forgiveness and those who prefer the look of a streamlined mallet head design.
The Tech Story
The TaylorMade Spider EX Flow Neck is loaded with new features that make it one of the top putters in the industry. First, the Spider EX Flow Neck’s back weights were constructed from a combination of multi-materials such as heavy tungsten. This creates a deep center of gravity, making it easier for golfers to control the distance of their putts. TaylorMade constructed the head from lightweight aluminum and composite, and co-molded heavy steel onto the frame of the heel and toe areas. These materials all work in concert to ensure the clubhead maintains maximum stability through the strike. The TaylorMade Spider EX Flow Neck also features a co-molded Pure Roll 2 insert manufactured from white TPU urethane that is designed to produce better roll and feel characteristics. The putter’s classy light exterior is contrasted by the 3 Dot True Path Alignment on top of the club. This pattern is easily tracked by the eye and helps improve alignment and club path.
