Used, Senior Ping i230 Single Iron
Who’s It For?
The new PING i230 irons are designed for better golfers, featuring a more compact club shape in order to help promote workability. Additionally, PING added some construction properties to deliver a soft feel, another item that will help better players who are used to a softer feel gravitate toward the i230 irons. However, while single-digit handicap golfers are most likely to be fit into the i230 irons, there is enough forgiveness packed in that could benefit a wider range of players.
The Tech Story
PING incorporated new innovations in combination with some prior technologies to create the i230 irons. The i230 irons consist of a multi-material construction that includes a 431 stainless steel body, tungsten toe and tip weights, a multi-part cavity badge, and a concealed activated elastomer insert. This combination of materials and construction method provides a superb blend of forgiveness and soft feel in a long-lasting iron. Additionally, the i230 irons feature MicroMax grooves, which is a new groove design on PING irons that includes tighter spacing and more grooves that add consistency and spin retention from contact made all over the clubface. Lastly, PING made subtle adjustments to the club shape compared to the i230’s predecessor, the i210. Specifically, the i230 long irons are more compact to deliver a more pleasing appearance at address.
