The new 2023 TaylorMade P770 irons represent an advancement on one of the most successful iron models in TaylorMade history in the original P770 irons, which delivered explosiveness in a compact, players-type clubhead. Through subtle but significant refinements, the 2023 TaylorMade P770 irons provide added distance and control with an updated center-of-gravity position and a cleaner look thanks to adjustments to the topline and offset. The 2023 P770 irons are best suited for golfers in the low-to-mid handicap range seeking a terrific combination of distance, forgiveness, and control in a smaller clubhead profile.
The Tech Story
The 2023 P770 irons are powered by a forged hollow body construction that gives golfers both beauty and performance. An incredibly thin, flexible face of forged 4140 steel is paired with a soft 8620 carbon steel body to provide superb ball speeds while maintaining a soft feel. New SpeedFoam Air, positioned inside the clubhead, is 69% less dense than its predecessor to allow for mass savings that are redistributed for added performance. The FLTD CG strategically places the center of gravity lowest in the long irons while progressively getting higher in the shorter irons. This adds distance and forgiveness in the long irons while a focus is placed on spin and control in the short irons. Compared to the previous P770s, the 2023 P770 irons feature less offset in the long irons to fit the eye of a more discerning player. And of course, TaylorMade’s trademark Thru-Slot Speed Pocket is included to help preserve performance on low-face strikes.
