Who’s It For?

Titleist’s 620 CB irons are a tour-proven cavity back iron designed for golfers of all skill levels and handicaps. Unlike many other cavity back irons, the 620 CBs boast a 1-piece forged clubhead that has a uniquely soft feel. The irons also feature a relatively thin topline and reduced offset, which creates a look that highly skilled iron players will enjoy. However, Titleist’s engineers still managed to pack a solid amount of forgiveness into the 620 CB’s clubface, a move that is sure to satisfy middle and high handicappers.

The Tech Story

One of the primary changes found in the Titleist 620 CB irons relative to previous generations is in the longer irons, specifically the 3-iron and 4-iron. Titleist engineers implemented tungsten weighting into the heel and toe of the 3- and 4-iron, improving forgiveness and MOI in the clubs where it’s needed most. Additionally, Titleist added a stainless steel face insert on the 3-iron and 4-iron in order to improve ball speeds. The remaining irons in the set are all one-piece forged from carbon steel, delivering exceptional feel and control where it’s needed in the scoring clubs. Progressive blade lengths and offset are evident throughout the set as well, further optimizing playability for each particular iron. The compact clubhead design with a thin topline and narrow sole width promotes workability for the skilled ball striker. Meanwhile, the cavity-back design provides some forgiveness in the event of a mis-hit. Compared to the previous CB iron model, Titleist refined the sole to improve its turf interaction at impact, a change that will help golfers achieve better contact more consistently.

Titleist 620 MB and 620 CB Irons

2nd Swing staff writer Chris Wallace is joined by Titleist Vice President of Golf Club Marketing Josh Talge at the Titleist Performance Institute in Oceanside, California to discuss the brand new Titleist 620 MB and CB irons. MB and CB irons have been staples in the Titleist iron lineup for years and highly popular among the better players for whom they were designed. The new 620 name was chosen to pay homage to the 600 series irons that were so popular for Titleist in the early and mid 2000s. Both the 620 MB and CB are forged players irons that feature compact profiles, and they were designed for shot-makers who value precision. That said, the cavity back design of the CB irons offers a bit more forgiveness than is available in the MB model, as does tungsten weighting that has been incorporated into the 3- and 4-iron. New Titleist 620 MB and CB irons will be available for pre-order on August 8. Visit https://www.2ndswing.com/t-new-titleist-golf-clubs.aspx on that date for more information.
