Utility irons are becoming increasingly popular for both professionals and amateur golfers. What is not popular, however, is an adjustable utility iron. Cobra has created and released the KING Utility Iron, which features the company’s popular MyFly adjustable hosel to allow for eight unique loft settings that allow golfers to tune their launch and spin to their preferences. The KING Utility is shaped and built to look, feel, and play similar to the Cobra KING Forged Tec irons, which fall into the players-distance iron category. The KING Utility is designed for golfers looking to bridge the gap at the top of their iron set to blend with the next-longest club in the bag, whether that’s a hybrid or fairway wood.
The Tech Story
The Cobra KING Utility wants to give golfers a boost to both distance and forgiveness at the top of their bag. The KING Utility includes a classic look with modern technology blended in to provide superb performance. A forged PWRSHELL face insert wraps around the sole to create a larger sweet zone for higher launch and faster ball speed. Meanwhile, 66 grams of tungsten weighting has been positioned inside the clubhead to create a center of gravity location right behind the hitting zone. This helps deliver maximum ball speed and energy transfer at impact. The hollow body construction not only adds forgiveness, but it also creates a more flexible clubface that also helps with producing extremely fast ball speeds. Lastly, the MyFly8 adjustable hosel allows golfers to increase or decrease loft by 1.5 degrees and experiment with an upright setting to create ideal launch and spin conditions.
