While Mizuno is best known for its exceptional production of forged irons, it would make sense that Mizuno’s excellence also shows in creating wedges. The new T20 wedges are designed for precision shot-making and control through the patented Grain Flow Forging process and CNC milled grooves. The T20 is available in three grind options -- the T20 Standard Level, the T20 Subtle M Grind, and the T20 Aggressive C Grind. The Standard Level option is designed for full swings and is available in lofts between 45 and 53 degrees. Meanwhile, the Subtle M Grind and Aggressive C Grind designs allow for versatility around the greens. Golfers who often find the center of the clubface with their wedges will benefit the most from the T20 wedges. The Tech Story Many of the birdies made in golf, whether it’s PGA Tour competition or a local league, involve the use of a wedge. The second shot on a par-4 and the third shot on a par-5 are generally present the best opportunities for golfers to make birdies. Mizuno has taken note of this and designed the T20 wedges specifically to help golfers score. Each T20 clubhead is constructed through Mizuno’s patented Grain Flow Forging process and mechanically milled to the highest possible tolerances, ensuring a perfectly flat face and consistent spin. The CNC milled grooves are Boron-infused for more durability and spin. Additionally, the lower-lofted options have deeper, narrower grooves suited for full shots, while the higher-lofted options contain wider, shallower grooves for the various shots played around the green. The center of gravity has been moved slightly higher, discreetly within a tapered blade for increased spin and vertical stability from off-center strikes. The Hydroflow Micro Grooves are laser-etched on the clubface to release moisture and maintain spin in damp conditions. At address, the teardrop profile flows smoothly through the lofts. The 46-degree pitching wedge features a defined teardrop, while the 60-degree option shows a more rounded teardrop for added versatility. Golfers can also choose from three finish options -- Satin Chrome, Blue Ion, or Raw. Quotable “Although our T-Series wedges haven’t been available to the public for over a year, they’ve become even more popular on tour over that time. The teardrop shape, the forged feel, and the addition of a Tour-only RAW finish brought the wedge to iconic status. The updated T20 has been a long time coming, but with a few extra design tweaks we learned over the last year, it will finally bring all that wedge goodness back to the public.” -- Kyle Hammond, Mizuno PGA Tour Technician Facts and Figures Get Fit 2nd Swing Golf offers professional, tour-level club fitting at all of its retail locations, as well as a knowledgeable customer service staff that can help answer questions related to fitting.
