Wedge development isn’t necessarily TaylorMade’s calling card, but the Milled Grind series has been exceptional over the past few years. Tiger Woods joined the TaylorMade tour staff in 2018 and has been playing TaylorMade wedges since. Now, TaylorMade is releasing the Milled Grind 2 Tiger Woods Special Edition Grind wedges, which are designed to copy the specs of the 56-degree and 60-degree wedges in Tiger’s bag. The 56-degree wedge features 12 degrees of bounce and a dual sole grind with heavy heel relief, a setup that is built for versatility and allows him to manipulate the clubface and create different trajectories or handle different lies. Meanwhile, the 60-degree wedge includes 11 degrees of bounce and has additional leading edge relief for more efficient turf interaction on firm conditions. This allows Tiger to be more aggressive on open-faced shots.
The Tech Story
The Milled Grind 2 wedges from TaylorMade are packed with plenty of innovations that deliver excellent performance and increased scoring opportunities. RAW Face Technology excludes plating from the face and grooves for more precise shot-making and is designed to optimize spin and feel, especially in wet conditions. The ZTP Raw Groove design features an improved groove construction. They’re deeper, narrower, and sharper so that they grab the golf ball more aggressively. Thick-Thin Head Design technology places mass precisely so that the center of gravity is optimized for each loft. The Laser Etched Patters in between the grooves on the face adds more roughness, thus producing more spin. And finally, the Milled Grind ensures precision and consistency while creating clean turf interaction.
