Our Story
As a lefty who had struggled to find quality used golf clubs his entire life, Simon Kallal, founder and CEO of 2nd Swing Golf, took some of his free time away from the University of West Georgia golf team in 1994 to write a business plan for the company he was looking for, one that would buy and sell golf clubs and feature a world-class selection. After transferring to the University of Minnesota and receiving a little encouragement from a professor and his coach, Kallal fine-tuned his vision and began putting his plan into practice in his senior year, buying and selling clubs out of the house he lived in with his fellow golf team members.
2nd Swing was born during his senior year at the Carlson School of Management in 1998, and he quickly brought his father Phil aboard as employee #2. When they were not assisting customers on the store floor of their first retail space, early 2nd Swing team members crammed into the windowless lower-level room that doubled as their support office. However, as clubs flew off the shelves above them, the company continued to grow slowly and organically.
Now based out of its headquarters in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, 2nd Swing employs over 350 wonderful team members and operates seven stores across five states. To this day, the company remains family-owned as it remains laser-focused on helping golfers find the right clubs and creating great jobs for its employees. With a 4.9+ Google rating and partnerships with every major equipment manufacturer, the PGA of America, 2,200 PGA professionals, and 55 of the top 100 golf courses in America, what was once a dorm room dream to find some left-handed irons is now the top-rated golf retailer in the country.
